FSTec attendees tuned into Twitter on Tuesday were getting a backyard example of how the short-form social-media service could be used for local-store marketing, especially for building business amongst the transient conference crowd. Bouchees Bistro in Long Beach, Calif., where the conference was being held, advised Twitter attendees that the restaurant was just a convenient two-minute walk away from the Long Beach Convention Center. Smartly searching Twitter's hashtag feature for #FSTEC, which many Twitter users were attaching to their 140-character messages about the conference, the restaurant was tweeting out personal messages to all who had included it. I'm working far away in Dallas, and I got a nice Bouchees note. You can follow the bistro from its site on Twitter.
