The restaurant industry hasn't been immune to the nationwide job cuts, as chefs, research & development execs, marketing personnel, and countless servers have lost their jobs in the weak economy.
But there are opportunities out there -- at least in IT.
Three restaurant executives said they had actually increased headcounts in their respective IT departments last year, and continue to look for more people to hire in 2010.
Philip Gay, chief executive of Grill Concepts, said: "We will increase IT support staff going forward to meet the needs of social media."
Both Susan Dallas, vice president of IT at Rubio's, and Todd Michaud, CIO at Focus Brands, also said they are hiring seasoned IT professionals from outside the restaurant industry to help bring stabilization and consistency to corporate infrastructure.
Happy job hunting.
