Live and let liver

Just in time for visitors to Chicago, author Mark Caro has published his new book, "The Foie Gras Wars," which looks in part at the NRA Show host city's battle over the ingredient. "Wars" chronicles the debate over foie gras and Chicago's 2006 ban on the liver, which was overturned in 2008. (Which led Chicago Mayor Richard Daley to ask: "Is this what government should be doing? Telling you what to put on toast?") Caro is a Chicago Tribune entertainment reporter. "The Foie Gras Wars" is published by Simon & Schuster ($25). Read a review here.
